Completion of Charles Mill Dam

In 1935-1936 Charles Mill Lake was created by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood control purposes by the building of the dam. The dam, completed in August of 1935, is 48 feet high, 1,390 feet long and 20 feet wide, and includes two dikes and one levee. The final cost of the dam was estimated at $1,003, 970.
